We recognise that good environmental practice is critical to operational performance and to building community trust and acceptance.
We manage potential environmental impacts and risks through our Environmental Management Strategy (EMS). The EMS ensures that environmental management across site is planned, controlled, monitored, recorded and audited using tools and systems that drive continual improvement.
Our EMS and associated management plans and monitoring programs have been developed in consultation with relevant community groups, government agencies and departments, in accordance with Cadia’s Project Approval. Our team of environmental professionals facilitate and coordinate the implementation of the EMS. This includes a range of comprehensive environmental monitoring programs relating to the following environmental aspects:
Air quality, Noise and Blast and Vibration
Surface and Groundwater
Biodiversity and River Health
Rehabilitation
Heritage
We actively engage with our local community on all aspects of our EMS, and are constantly looking at ways to improve our data collection, and overall management of environmental factors in the region.
Results from these monitoring programs are regularly reported and published on this website and via community engagement.
We manage our approach to site rehabilitation through our Rehabilitation Strategy. This strategy has been developed to meet the broad rehabilitation commitments made in the Cadia East Environmental Assessment and the Cadia East Project Approval.
