Cadia Open Day

Newmont Cadia will hold a Community Open Day on Sunday 8 November 2026, join us for a fun-filled day suitable for the whole family!  

Learn about the latest cutting-edge technologies and environmental initiatives, view a mining equipment display, discover career opportunities and so much more.  

A free, guided 2.5-hour bus tour of Newmont Cadia will depart from the Millthorpe Museum every 10 minutes throughout the day, taking guests on a comprehensive tour of the mine. 

The Open Day is a fantastic opportunity to experience mining operations and enables our teams to showcase their workplace to family and friends. 

Proudly operating since 1965, the Millthorpe Museum is supported by a vibrant and dedicated volunteer community. The Museum is an expansive and engaging space where visitors can explore the rich history of Millthorpe and its surrounding regions, along with a fascinating collection of Australian inventions and everyday items from the past – including a dedicated Cadia Corner.

Our 2023 Cadia Open Day welcomed over 2,000 attendees, while simultaneously commemorating a significant milestone: 25 years of mining in the Cadia District.

Mine tour visitors were able to experience underground mining at the Ridgeway decline, explore the range of surface and underground machinery at our heavy vehicle workshop and visit our 25-year-old SAG mill.

Those who couldn’t secure a seat on one of the 38 sold-out buses were able to attend the Interactive Display Centre at the Orange Showground.

Thanks to the generosity of attendees at our open day, $3,077.40 was raised from the gold coin entry. Cadia has matched this amount, resulting in a total of $6,154.80 being donated to FoodCare Orange.

The day was also made possible thanks to the support of our local contracting partners – including GB Auto, AWCON, Otraco, Sandvik, Epiroc, Forefront Services, JTMEC, PJL Group, Hort Enterprises, NSW Mining, Westrac Cat and Freo Group.
