ToursUnfortunately until further notice, tours of Cadia Valley Operations have been suspended. This decision has been made due to the risk and impact of COVID-19 and we have no current estimate for when tours will resume. We will continue to assess the situation in light of advice from the NSW Government.
Group Visitor ToursCadia invites local educational and community groups to arrange site visits to the mine by appointment. Tours are restricted to groups from Orange, Blayney, Molong and surrounding villages. Educational tours are offered to students from Year 3 - Year 12. Where possible, Cadia incorporates content from the school curriculum to make tours for school groups relevant to student learning outcomes. Tours are free of charge and generally last two hours. Tours are offered on Thursday and Friday, with consideration being given to other days, subject to availability. Please contact cadiavalley@newcrest.com.au or 0439 490 092. Tours involve visiting CVO’s surface operations including the open cut lookout and ore treatment areas. However, the areas visited are dependent upon mining operations on the day of the visit and no guarantee is given as to the content of site tours. No underground tours are offered. Group tours must provide their own bus and driver for transport around the mine site, unless other arrangements are approved by Newcrest. Buses must be a maximum of 3.9 m tall, have current vehicle registration and be equipped with a fire extinguisher and first aid kit. The driver of the bus must have the appropriate current drivers licence and upon entering site, be breathalysed at the nearest access control building (situated next to boom gates). Buses will be escorted by mine vehicles around the operations and depending on conditions, buses may get dirty.
