CVO Good Onya! Program

Good Onya! logoNewcrest’s Good Onya! program at Cadia Valley Operations (CVO) rewards the volunteering efforts of its workforce in the local community.

When a Newcrest employee or their spouse volunteers 25 hours or more of their personal time during a calendar year to support a disadvantaged group, charity, sporting club, registered organisation or educational organisation, Newcrest will donate $250 to that organisation to recognise their contribution.

In 2020, Newcrest awarded 67 Good Onya! grants of $250 each. Through the program more than 2,632 volunteer hours were contributed and a total of $16,750 was donated to support local charities, sporting, educational and community organisations.

Good Onya recipients must not have received any personal financial benefit for the volunteer hours claimed.

Eligible organisations include:

  • Recognised charities or disadvantaged groups (e.g. Salvation Army, Red Cross, Women’s Refuge, Camp Quality, WIRES, RSPCA, etc).
  • Sporting clubs and registered associations (e.g. Blayney Netball Assoc, Orange Tennis Club, Notre Dame Softball Club, Molong Pony Club, etc). In the case of sporting clubs and associations, recipients must serve their volunteer hours in either a committee position or as a principal coach or team manager. Other formal roles will be considered.
  • Community groups (e.g. Rural Fire Brigades, Show Societies, Landcare, Guides/Scouts, CWA, etc).
  • Educational organisations (School P&C, Eisteddfod, PCYC, etc).
