Cadia Valley Operations is owned by Newcrest Mining Limited and is one of the largets gold mining operations in Australia. Operations include two underground mines and an ore processing facility.

Community Partnership Program 

At Cadia Valley Operations, Newcrest distributes funding each year to support and enhance community groups and organisations in the Blayney, Cabonne and Orange local government areas.

Our Community Partnership Program offers two funding opportunities – Cadia Cares and the Cadia Legacy Fund. 

Cadia Cares provides support to community groups within Blayney, Cabonne and Orange LGA’s to offset the current impacts of Cadia’s activities and support the economic development of the community.  Minor funding of up to $5,000 is available for short-term projects is available, while funding of up to $20,000 is available for projects which can demonstrate long-term benefit to the community.

To submit an application for Cadia Cares, please click here.  To be eligible for consideration at the September meeting, applications for Cadia Cares need to be completed by Monday 24 January 2022.  Applications submitted after this date will be assessed at the March meeting.  

The Cadia Legacy Fund works in partnership with community representatives to develop and deliver strategic projects which will leave a legacy on the local region (within Blayney, Cabonne or Orange LGA’s) while Cadia continues to operate, and as it reaches mine closure.  Funding applications of a minimum of $20,000 will be considered through the Cadia Legacy Fund.  Projects must demonstrate strategic alignment with government or key stakeholder plans. 

Please read the Cadia Legacy Fund Guidelines to check your project’s eligibility.  You can then submit an Expression of Interest for the Cadia Legacy Fund.  Please note, this is an expression of interest only and not an application.   Applications for Round 2 of the Cadia Legacy Fund close on Monday 21 February 2022.  Applications for Round 1 have now closed and applicants will receive notification of the outcome by the end of November 2021.

COVID-19 Community Support Fund

Applications for Cadia's COVID-19 Community Support Fund have now closed, however applications are still being considered under Newcrest's $20M Community Support Fund. Newcrest Mining continues to fund local COVID-19 initiatives through its $20M Community Support Fund. Initiatives to date include:

  • Newcrest's Business Beyond the Curve Program providing grants towards helping local businesses impacted by COVID-19 restart and/or recover.
  • Newcrest's Fundraising Beyond the Curve Program providing grants towards charities, not-for-profit organisations and associations whose fundraising revenue has been impacted by COVID-19.  
  • Newcrest and Orange360 Staycation Giveaway Program
  • Furnishing and fitout of Orange's Domestic Violence Crisis Centre, The Orchard
  • Computer equipment for immune-compromised children across local schools
  • Freestanding hand sanitiser dispensary program
  • Respiratory fit testing machine for Orange Health Service
