Cadia Valley Operations is owned by Newcrest Mining Limited and is one of the largets gold mining operations in Australia. Operations include two underground mines and an ore processing facility.

Community Partnership Program 

At Cadia Valley Operations, Newcrest distributes more than $500,000 each year in funding to support and enhance community groups and organisations in the Blayney, Cabonne and Orange local government areas. Eligible organisations and projects are encouraged to complete an online application form for review at the next meeting. Applications must be completed by 3 February to be included on the February 2021 agenda. Applications completed after this time will be reviewed at the following meeting.

Eligibility Criteria

Short term funding is focused on supporting education, community and disadvantaged groups to offset the current impacts of Cadia's activities. 

Consideration will be given to pursuing partnerships with projects which:

  • Are within Cadia’s sphere of influence, i.e. the shires of Cabonne, Blayney and Orange
  • Indiscriminately benefit the whole or a wide section of the local community
  • Provide enduring value to the community
  • Are recognised charities, disadvantaged groups, not-for- profit organisations, community or educational projects.

Long term funding is focused on supporting alternative industry sectors which will ensure the propserty of the region when Cadia reaches mine closure. Health, agriculture and tourism have been identified has these industry sectors.

Consideration will be given to pursuing partnerships with projects which:

  • Are within Cadia’s sphere of influence, i.e. the shires of Cabonne, Blayney and Orange
  • Establish, promote or support an alternative industry which will offset the socioeconomic impacts of Cadia mine closure
  • Are well supported by the local communities
  • May include commercial projects.

Exclusions

Generally, the following will not be considered for community partnership funding:

  • Applications from individuals;
  • Applications from political organisations or campaigns;
  • Applications from sporting clubs or special interest groups;
  • Fundraising events such as dinners, cultural events, or sporting activities;
  • Advertising.

 

COVID-19 Community Support Fund

Applications for Cadia's COVID-19 Community Support Fund have now closed. Local organisations seeking funding due to COVID-19 impacts may apply via Cadia's Community Partnership Program, provided they meet the outlined eligibility criteria.

Newcrest Mining continues to fund local COVID-19 initiatives through its $20M Community Support Fund. Initiatives to date include:

  • Newcrest's Business Beyond the Curve Program providing grants towards helping local businesses impacted by COVID-19 restart and/or recover. For more information or to apply visit http://www.bizhq.com.au

  • Furnishing and fitout of Orange's Domestic Violence Crisis Centre, The Orchard
  • Computer equipment for immune-compromised children across local schools
