Cadia Valley Operations is owned by Newcrest Mining Limited and is one of the largets gold mining operations in Australia. Operations include two underground mines and an ore processing facility.

Community Partnerships

At Cadia Valley Operations, Newcrest distributes more than $400,000 each year in funding to support and enhance community groups and organisations in the Blayney, Cabonne and Orange local government areas.

 

Eligibility Criteria

Short term - Education, community and disadvantaged groups were identified as industries to offset the current impacts of Cadia's activities and approximately 40% of Cadia’s annual budget will be spent in these areas.

Consideration will be given to pursuing partnerships with projects which:

  • Are within Cadia’s sphere of influence, i.e. the shires of Cabonne, Blayney and Orange
  • Indiscriminately benefit the whole or a wide section of the local community
  • Provide enduring value to the community
  • Are recognised charities, disadvantaged groups, not-for-profit organisations, community or educational projects.

Long term - Health, agriculture and tourism were identified as alternative industry sectors which will ensure the prosperity of the region when Cadia reaches mine closure. Approximately 60% of Cadia’s annual budget will be directed towards funding in these areas.

Consideration will be given to pursuing partnerships with projects which:

  • Are within Cadia’s sphere of influence, i.e. the shires of Cabonne, Blayney and Orange
  • Establish, promote or support an alternative industry which will offset the socioeconomic impacts of Cadia mine closure
  • Are well supported by the local communities
  • May include commercial projects.

Exclusions

Generally, the following will not be considered for community partnership funding:

  • Applications from individuals
  • Applications from political organisations or campaigns
  • Applications from sporting clubs or special interest groups
  • Fundraising events such as dinners, cultural events or sporting activities
  • Advertising
